History
The people that built Stonehenge are the first recognized inhabitants, the Celts were second, and the Romans invaded during the 1st century and left in the 5th. After the Roman legions were gone the Jutes, Saxons, and Angles invaded. They established seven kingdoms and the indigenous Brits retreated to Scotland and Wales. In 1066 the Norman invasion occurred and they brought feudalism and Norman French law ruled England. England was unified in the 10th century and from there eventually became an Empire.
