Sweden emerged as a single nation in the Middle Ages, but Sweden’s history can be traced to 12,000 BC, of course, it was not referred to as “Sweden” then. The area of Sweden played a role in the Viking and Middle ages as well, straight through to the World Wars, Cold War, and modern recent history. Sweden has long been a major part of growing cultures and nations, as well as a generally peaceful place throughout history. Sweden has a fascinating history with deep roots and interesting culture!

Sweden’s primary language is Swedish, but mixing of cultures has also brought in different languages. A large part of Swedish culture was that in the 1960s and 70s it was seen as the leader of a sexual revolution and gender equality. Swedish music varies as well, from folk to hip-hop and everything in between. Their literature and music culture is amazing, with plenty of recognizable celebrities being from Sweden. When visiting Sweden you can visit the countless monuments, museums, and natural areas.

Swedish food or cuisine is very simple and is composed mainly of fish, meat, and potatoes, with little else. Alcoholic beverages are also popular and play an important role. Recently Swedish cuisine has expanded to feature the dishes of other areas and to incorporate more popular world foods. Traditional Swedish cuisine can be very strange to some, and one of the more popular meals include a fermented fish.
