Ibiza Town (Catalan: Eivissa) is one of the largest cities on the Spanish island of Ibiza, in the western Balearic archipelago. Ibiza Town is mostly known as a popular tourist destination. The island is just 42km long, but is home to several World Heritage Sites as well as a long history. The island and the city are both well known for their summer club parties, and the island is home to the world's largest nightclub.

History
The island was settled in 654 BC by Phoenician settlers, who used it as a trading port. As the Phoenician empire declined, Ibiza came under the control of Carthage, to whom they stayed loyal until the rise of the Roman Empire, when they became an official Roman municipality. After the Roman Empire's fall, the island changed hands several times, controlled first by the Vandals, then the Byzantines, and finally the Moors. The island remained under Moorish administration until 1235, when King James I of Aragon reclaimed it for Europe. Ibiza has been controlled by Spain ever since.
Art & Museums
Traces of the ancient Phoenician and Punic cultures are still evident in Ibiza Town. The necropolis Puig des Molins, said to be one of the largest and best preserved necropolises in the world, was used as Ibiza's burial place from the earliest settlement of the island. Located in the old town, Dalt Vila, the necropolis houses over 3,000 Punic tombs. In addition to the archaeological site, Ibiza Town is home to a Museum of Contemporary Art, an Archaeological Museum, and a Museum of Ethnography.
Nightlife
Two of Ibiza's most well-known nightclubs are in Ibiza Town. The first, Pacha, is the only major club on the island which is open year-round. The other, El Divino, is the island's only nightclub with a seated terrace. Covers and drinks at these clubs, as well as other clubs on the island, are expensive, but thousands gladly pay the price to experience the famous nightlife.
How to get there
Most major European airlines offer flights to Ibiza. There are also regular boat routes between the island and Barcelona, Denia, Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, and Alicante.
