History

Because of its location in the Mediterranean Sea, Island Ibiza has a long history. The first known inhabitants were the Phoenicians, who used the island for its ports to the sea. Through various wars, the island then fell under the rule of Carthage, during which time it was utilized for its agricultural offerings along with its ports. During Roman rule, Ibiza had a quiet existence. Like the rest of Spain, then island then saw a long period of Moorish rule before Christian monarchy took over the island again during the thirteenth century.

 

Art & Museums

Though today the island is better known for its vibrant nightlife and active beaches, there are a number of cultural attractions for guests to see. One of the most notable cultural landmarks are the Murallas de Ibiza. This landmark is a well preserved remnant ancient city walls that is even classified as a World Class Heritage site. There are also a handful of small museums, most of which focus on the cultural history of the island, including an Archeological Museum, a museum of contemporary art, as well as a house gallery featuring local artists.

 

Nightlife

If there is one thing Island Ibiza is known for, it is its bustling nightlife. Wherever one stays on the island, the party is not far. In fact, some of the clubs on Island Ibiza are known world wide, such as Privilege, which is noted as the biggest club in the world. Other clubs throughout the island have various theme attractions, such as water parties or foam parties, which brings party goers from around the world looking for the pinnacle of nightlife experiences.

 

How to get there

The island does have an airport, which is the main method of arrival. However, the island is also reachable by boat, with ferries going to several ports on the island.
