History

The Garda Lake area is full of castles and ruins dating back to Roman times, too many to even be named. It has been home to historic battles with Napolean and is where the Red Cross was originally formed. Lake Garda is also notable in that it is the birthplace of the violin and

 

Arts & Museums

The are a variety of museums in the region of Gard Lake showcasing the history and culture of the area. The Wine Museum in Bardolino celebrates one of the area's most lucrative industries. Both the Vittoriale Museum and the Castelvecchio Museum are more focused on local arts and history.

 

Nightlife

The Garda Lake region is known for its many nightclubs, all with a stylish and distinctly Italian flair. Disco Hollywood features vintage disco music and decor, while Papillon is more techno style. For R&B, often live, check out Euphoria. The favorite area cocktail is the Bellini, made of peaches and Italian champagne.

 

How to get there

Train travel is the preferred way to reach this region. There are stations to the south of the lake as well as a few in the north. Motor travelers can take the A4 autstrada running between Milan and Venice or the A22 between Brennero to Modena, which is to the east of the lake. The nearest airports are in Verona and Brescia, but the closest large airport is in Milan.
