History
Hungary has a rich history dating back to the year 1000 A.D. Until 1910, Hungary was considered one of the most powerful nations in the world. However, the country lost more than 65 percent of its land and citizens in the 1920 Treaty of Trianon, which ended World War I and restructured Hungary. It was then an Eastern Bloc Communist state from the 1940s until the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe in 1989.
