History

Crete (Greece) is located at the gateway of Europe; the coastline of this very large Greek Island is quite picturesque. It is the largest Greek Island in the Mediterranean, and the oldest civilization in the world. History is
still searching for answers to the mystery of the Minoans, no one really knows what happened to them, but there is a lot of supposition. After the disappearance of the Minoans the Mycenaean’s took over. Ruler ship of Crete has been like a ping pong game, first the Mycenaean’s, then the Dorian’s, Romans, and the Byzantine Empire.

This quaint city with night clubs open till dawn is known for its enjoyment of festivities. The beach resorts party with lively steps during the evenings. The people of Crete are known to enjoy life, love, music; Crete parties until the rising of the Sun, putting the night to bed.

 

How to get there

Bus transportation is very good in Crete (Greece), the buses run on a regular basis and they run relatively late into the evening. Make sure you inspect your rental car; the car may or may not be up to speed so check it out before you accept it. Crete has two main ports, Heraklion and Hania, you can pick up a ferry from these points, be sure to check the schedules. There are a lot of activities to do in Crete, Hiking in Samaria Gorge, or Palace hoping in Knossos you will find something to your liking in Crete.
