History

The Hellenes are the people we call Greeks this is a civilization who had a significant naval presence in the ancient world, the history of Greece gives us the Golden Age, when Athens and Sparta were adversaries. Sparta was once known for having a strong military and Athens for its great pursuit of knowledge. Old Town of Corfu goes back to the 8th century BC. The three forts of the town were used for four centuries to defend Venetian trading routes. Throughout the history of Greece Olive Oil has always been one of its strongest assets and still is today.

There are so many historical treasures to see in Greece, The Parthenon, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Acropolis Towers of the wind, The Theater of Dionysus, and so many others. There are beautiful beaches, and wonderful Museums. There is the Plaka Market to see and the Church of the Metamorphosis. You want to tour the villages of Greece Santorini or Pyrgos, and other villages around the mountains of Greece. Public transportation makes it very easy to get around in Greece; you can also rent a car or motor bike.

 

Eat & Drink

There are lovely places to eat and drink in Greece, beautiful side walk café’s, inviting pubs, and restaurants; you are able to order cuisine from all over the world. The selections are delightful, Saganaki (fried cheese), and Ouzo to make a toast, the Nightlife is quite lively; the parties can last until dawn. Greece has many cultural and religious events; there are summer cinemas and the theater, beaches, hotels and great shopping in Greece. Try the Monastariki Flea market on Sundays, expect it to be busy, a great vacation spot with sailing and art, remember the Euro is accepted in Greece, and Banks are generally open from 9 to 2 on weekdays.
