Positioned on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, Pula is a prime example of what makes Croatia such a popular tourist spot. Pula has numerous historical and cultural attractions, and with a pleasant climate, a beautiful coastline, and all the modern conveniences to make the perfect vacation destination.

History
Since the Adriatic Sea was a common passageway in early civilization, it is no wonder that Pula has a notable history. In fact, some findings suggests that the area was inhabited even before the dawn of civilization, though the earliest mentions of the town came in some of the famous Greek myths. The city flourished under Roman rule, during which a great deal of construction was completed for the growing population. Over the Middle Ages, the various rulers often used Pula a central location for government. In centuries to come, Pula saw much conflict and had a strong Italian influence well into the twentieth century.
Art & Museums
Given its history, it should come as no surprise that Pula has much to see in terms of cultural sites. The city itself is full of ancient monuments, most of which date back to the Roman era. Most noteworthy of these historical structures is a large, Roman amphitheater, known as the Arena, which still stands, mostly in tact, in the heart of the city. There are also a number of churches from various historical time periods that many visitors enjoy perusing. There is also an Archeological Museum located at the historic Twin Gates, both of which are worth an daytime visit.
Nightlife
Though downtown Croatia does not have the most active party scene, the city does feature many musical performances in the city months, even some that happen in the historic Arena. Along the beachfront, visitors are more likely to find a party to pass the night away, taking advantage of the scenic setting. There is even a casino attached to one of the hotels, which can make for a fantastic nighttime experience.
How to get there
Since Pula is the largest town in the province of Istria, it is easy to get to by any mode of major transportation. It is well connected to other major towns in the region, including a number of popular tourist areas. The most common means of arriving in Pula from out of the country is probably the airport, which is located in Pula.
